Winter Park Ski Vacation Guide

Situated in the Arapaho National Forest, Winter Park is one of America’s oldest ski areas. Just 90 minutes from Denver, Winter Park has much to offer—whether you come winter, spring, summer or fall.

For warm weather fun, visit Amaze’n Winter Park where you will find a two-level labyrinth of twist and turns in the human maze. There are prizes for the participants who can “beat the clock” and the maze is constructed in a way that can be easily redesigned (which is done every week). You can choose to join the fun or observe from the deck above.

At the Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort, you can spend time fly fishing, horseback riding, river rafting, hiking, exploring the bird and nature trails, or using one of the inflatable kayaks. Once the snow falls, there is cross country skiing, sleigh riding, ice skating, snow shoeing and winter horseback riding.

For an opportunity to play on one of Colorado’s finest courses in the state, visit the Pole Creek Golf Club. The mountain view is incredible and the Ron Kirby, Gary Player designed course is phenomenal!

For snow fun, check out Winter Park Mountain and Discovery Park. The resort has 3 interconnected mountains with 2,581 acres of ski areas. At Mary Jane Mountain you will find 7 chair lifts and 50 trails which range from intermediate to expert terrain. Vasque Cirque has steep chutes and pockets especially enjoyed by advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. Designed with children in mind, Winter Parks Children Center has a play area, a rental shop, and a children’s instruction area.

Other outdoor activity includes Zephyr Express where you can enjoy sleigh rides followed or preceded by drinks and dessert at the Lodge at Sunspot, tubing on the hill behind the Alco Shopping Center, dog sled rides and Trailblazer Snowmobile Tours. The tours vary in length and have trails to 100 miles of the highest areas in the Arapaho National Forest.
