| What can you say about being on top of the country? It is something you have to experience for yourself. We made it to the summit just before 8:00 AM. We enjoyed the view and took pictures on the top as the sun warmed the air. We signed the log book by the summit shelter, built in 1909 by the Smithsonian Institute. Someone had left a beer in the box holding the logbook with a note for a friend congratulating him on making the summit. I wondered if the friend ever made it, and how long the beer had been in the box. |
