Yosemite Half
Dome Hike
We expected the cables to be up when we planned our trip, but the week before the valley flooded and the park service had to deal with more than getting the cables up on Half Dome. My brother Tim decided to do a Batman up what was left of the cable system and made it to the top for these pictures. I had been on top before so I didn't mind skipping it this time. The snow and excessive water on the trail kept many people away and made for a very isolated hike on one of the most beautiful trails in the world, the downside being the extra effort to maneuver through the conditions.

Up & Down the Rock
I don't know how many people hike the Half Dome Trail each year, but most of them will do it in the summer and if you decide to go on a weekend in the summer you can expect huge crowds. Yosemite is the Mecca of outdoor enthusiasts, and you can bet that hikers from all over the world have this trail on their list of must do hikes.
