Yosemite Half Dome Hike

After about a mile we crossed the Vernal Falls Bridge and then came to a split in the trail. We took the John Muir Trail at the split. The John Muir trail was not as steep and is much dryer than the Mist Trail this time of year. Don't let that fool you though. The switchbacks still were pretty darn steep at 5 in the morning and in more than one spot we encountered trail flooding. Actually, it was much more than simply trail flooding. The trails were rapids.

Eventually we reached Nevada Falls, but not until we negotiated the flooded trails. During a few parts we had snow melt waterfalls on our right and cliffs on our left. The usually safe sections of the trail had become rapids hoping to push us over the edge and into the abyss.
