Yosemite Half Dome Hike

We woke up early at 3:30 AM in our warm and cozy tent at Curry Village. I decided at that time that the best time to be asleep in Curry Village was 3:30 AM. However, we had a hike to do and in the end being on the trail is one of my favorite things in the world.

We walked from Curry Village to the trailhead near the Happy Isles Nature Center. The trail is made up mostly of the John Muir trail (a 210 mile trail that ends at Mt. Whitney ). The most taken path to Half Dome is a little over 8 miles uphill. That is the shorter path but also the steeper path, and it is the path by way of the Mist Trail. We avoided this way and used the John Muir to loop around the Mist Trail. With the waterfalls being at well over 150 percent the Mist Trail would only soak us and there was little need to start the journey off soaked. The path we decided to take made the hike about 18 miles round trip for the day.
