Curry Village

Until 1969 Curry Village was known as the place where park visitors would come to watch the Firefalls at night. The Firefalls were hot coals dropped from Glacier Point above. It isn't too hard to figure out why they stopped this practice.

Curry Village is probably the most economical way of staying inside the park other than bringing your own tent or RV and camping in Northern Pines or one of the other campsites. I like Curry Village because for the price you get a tent with a bed and access to showers. The downside is that it can be noisy. If you like to get to sleep before 11:00 PM then you might have some trouble because you can hear every sound your neighbor makes. We were unlucky enough to be stationed in the middle of a summer camp for kids. Summer camp is loads of fun when you are a kid, but having to be in the middle of a summer camp on your vacation sucks. You will want to make sure you don't get stuck in the middle of a summer camp because ten year olds have a special talent for giggling far into the night and then waking up at 5:45 AM ready to go again.

No matter where you decide to stay there are some links below to a few great places to stay. I have stayed in several places in and around the park and I have always been happy. The area is beautiful and it is hard to find a place that isn't perfect in one way or another.
