Fishing & Bear Viewing

One of the exciting trips Brad at the fishing lodge set us up with was a fly-in fishing trip with bear viewing. Our trip started early when Rhonda and I arrived early at a small airport in the woods next to a lake. The lake would be our runway for the floatplane that took us across the Cook Inlet to the (name of Lake) to fish for salmon and to watch bears. Float planes are the way best way to get around Alaska. There are many places that are almost impossible to reach without a plane. The bush pilots of Alaska are some of the best pilots in the world and they can drop you into places that you never thought were possible for landing planes.

This lake is hundreds of miles from the nearest road and can only be reached by float plane. It is tucked between miles of marsh and the mountains that you see behind us. Our plane dropped us off at this island of floating moss where we would find our small boat. When walking the ground under us moved. It was like walking on a wet trampoline.
